Hello,

I am new to MQ Series. Here is what I want to achieve:

-Manually retrieve a message's messageId/correlationId from Websphere MQ Explorer and convert it into a String that I will subsequently hard-code (for testing purposes) as an argument to a java application. The java app is connected to an IMS service that takes the messageId as an argument.

How can I obtain a String from MQ Explorer?

FYI, the MQSeries that we use is the zOs version.

Regards,

J.

You can't, and you don't want to. The messageId is not a string but a byte array. So the character representation is unlikely to match it.

One of the support pacs which can give you the binary representation of the id is more likely to assist you.

There are a number that might suit you, depending on your exact requirements. A lot of it comes down to personal taste.

You'll find a link to all of the support pacs at the top of this page.
