We recently upgraded our AIX server from MQ 5.2 to MQ 5.3. Since then, we have been seeing FDC errors files being created in /var/mqm/errors ever time we use runmqsc through the runmqadm wrapper. We have installed CSD03 and tried installing the latest version of the wrapper but to no avail. Does anyone have any thoughts? Below is a section from a FDC file and AMQERR01.LOG.

If this is SupportPac MS0E, then I believe it's a known problem that it doesn't work with 5.3.
Can anyone from IBM confirm?

MQ recreated the problem and provided the following work arounds.

Either:
Set the environment variable EXTSHM=ON in the shell from which runmqadm is executed.
Or:
Start MQ control programs, including runmqsc, from runmqadm by
specifying the full path, i.e. after starting runmqadm enter the
command 'usr/lpp/mqm/bin/runmqsc QMGR' at the command prompt.

The ENV variable work for me. I was not able to use the second option. I got permissions problems trying to run runmqsc with a full path.

With our AIX setup /usr/lpp/mqm/bin/runmqsc etc are not executable. But /usr/bin/runmqsc is linked to /usr/lpp/mqm/runmqsc and is executable. If you want to use the full path then use /usr/bin instead.

Cheers,
Vicky
