WMB v7, MQ v7, SLES (zLinux) v11

I upgraded my broker runtime to v7002 in our engineering (sandbox) environment.
Now, my team lead wants to know if there is a way to uninstall this patch. Not the broker runtime, but just the patch.

I went to the WMB IBM online library, but couldn't find anything on uninstalling just the patch.

Anybody have any experience on this front???

If you installed 7.0.0.2 in the same location as your previous version, you are S.O.L., you will have to uninstall and then reinstall 7.0.0.0 and then apply 7.0.0.1.

BUT, you can plan for this and make it super simple to bounce around between WMB versions. When you install a Fix Pack for WMB, choose a different path for the install location of that Fix Pack, ending in say ...7001 if you are installing 7.0.0.1, or ...7002 if you are installing 7.0.0.2.

Then for your WMB Service Account that you run your Broker under, source the mqsiprofile in the directory of the version you want to run under. If you want to start the Broker under 7.0.0.2, use the mqsiprofile command in the ...7002... path. If you need to fall back, stop everything, source the 7001 version of mqsiprofile and start the broker up. Look in the log for the start up messages to confirm you started the broker in the intended version.

Why do you wish to uninstall the .2 patch? What issue is causing concern?

Well, yes, and no.

You can't modify the current installed location. One could, however, install 7.0.0.0 and then 7.0.0.1 into a new location. Leaving one with the same setup previously discussed...

Thanks Peter. I think I'll try the co-existing installations approach. Seems pretty nifty.

It's not causing any issues Lance.
As I mentioned in my post, this is a sandbox and my team lead wanted me to be aware of the back out process before we installed the patch in our higher environments.
