Start here
How you learn about JCL, CICS, ISPF, DASD and all the other z/OS constructs you'll need to use any of this information is a different problem.

Boy are you in trouble! Learning z/OS is not something you do in a hurry if you don't want to cause more problems than you solve.

Be aware - WMQ on z/OS has a number of platform specific constructs (such as storage class and page sets) that do not exist on other platforms. Failure to use these constructs correctly will have highly negative consequences!!!!
I urge you to contact the senior team member you mention here. The z/OS platform is different to every other OS, and as a result WMQ works differently. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Then dodge.

If you choose to get involved, bear in mind my warnings. Even if you've got experienced mainframe people submitting the commands for you, they won't be aware of the nuances of WMQ on z/OS. If they were, they wouldn't be asking for help.
And as it's an emergency, we can assume the z/OS queue manager isn't in a happy, relaxed, normally running state. So you're starting from a bad position. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Does this sort of thing go on in other industries? I have visions of people being operated on by "surgeons" who are learning on the job (it's urgent - pls help!). |

It would certainly explain my wrist after the NHS finished with it. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Have them open a PMR with IBM for that. I believe there is an APAR for that.
The PMR will tell them exactly what fix and how to apply. _________________ MQ & Broker admin |
