Hi,

I'm not a java developer but have to assist developers with various aspects of using MQ.

I'd like to clarify how MQ deals with JMS objects. The manual says:

Use the WebSphere® MQ Explorer graphical user interface to create JMS objects from WebSphere MQ objects, and WebSphere MQ objects from JMS objects, as well as for administering and monitoring other WebSphere MQ objects.

Am I right in thinking that when you create a JMS object within MQ either from the explorer or from JMSAdmin you are just creating an entry either in a .bindings file or an LDAP server that is potentially (though not always) a pointer to an MQ queue?

In other words am I way off the mark when I say that having created a JMS queue which points to an MQ queue you are not affecting the MQ queue's properties in any way?

Yes.

Except it's possible that at least MQExplorer these days will create a real queue behind the scenes for you. Although one would sort of expect that it would at least tell you that.
