Hi Experts,

The embedded JRE is Java 1.4.2 for Broker 6.0.
What if only JRE is upgraded to a later version? What would be the impact ?

Please let me know.

I know 6.0 is off support but it looks like it will take some more time for us to migrate to newer versions. That is still underway.

It's this simple.

If you want a newer JRE, you *must* migrate to a newer version of Broker.

Unless, of course, the version of Broker you are using contains information about how to upgrade the JRE...

But I think it's only 6.1 that lets you use JRE 1.4 or 1.5, not 6.0.

Regardless, it is an entire waste of your time to do anything other than focus on upgrading everything to Broker version 7 SOONER rather than LATER.

Anything that *needs* a newer JRE should be the FIRST things that get migrated to the new version.

Since the application does not run on Java 1.4.2, could we consider that the impact would be minimum or nill, if we were to upgrade only the JRE ?

You may install a JRE with a higher version on the Box, but you need to still be running on 1.4.2 using the broker's JRE for all broker processes. (JCN etc...)

This means you cannot touch the WMB install directories either!

Have fun
