Hi folks,
The environment:
AIX 6.1
MQ v7.0.1.3
WMB v7.0.0.1
We currently have a process for backing up a Broker that is based on the mqsibackupbroker command but this is for the Broker as a whole. We are interested in backing up at the Execution Group level to try to make backing out production changes a little easier. Currently, we require the application teams to maintain a proper collection of .bar files so that backing out a change is done by deploying an older version of their .bar file.
Is backing up an Execution Group be as simple as backing up the /var/mqsi/components/<broker>/<exegrp_uuid> directory and all its subdirectories? Or are there other things we must consider?
If backing up in this manner is correct, then backout/recovery of the Execution Group would involve making sure it is defined, making sure it is empty, and then copying the /var/mqsi/components/<broker>/<exegrp_uuid> backup to its normal location. Or are there other things we must consider here too?
Thanks.

The Broker instance maintains a registry. Simply copying files is not all that is needed.
Your current approach to maintain the source bar files to rebuild the proper config is the best approach in my opinion. _________________ http://leanpub.com/IIB_Tips_and_Tricks

Hi,
You could consider also to built simple java -application with Configuration Manager Proxy API that documents when, what, which versions, in which eg and from where you broker resources have been deployed.
