Thanks for the info. But i tried to change QDISP(SHARED) to QDISP(QMGR) from ISPF panel and from Appwatch. Its not allowing me to do so. The option looks disabled to me.

What error message did you receive? Did you look in the qmgr address space for errors relating to your attempt to change QDISP?

Are there messages in the queue?

What else did you try?

Did you successfully take the object out of the cluster?

Try issuing the MQSC-equivalent command to change QDISP, and post the error message here.

That seems fairly unambiguous.

Are you saying that you can successfully display/view the queue definition, but cannot alter it?

Google CSQM125I for a complete description of the cause of this error. The first hit from google is ibm's boulder publications site.

You indicated earlier that

Please capture the panel that you successfully display the queue, and post it here.

Then, capture the panel where you attempt to alter the queue object, and it fails, then post it here.

What happened about your last question?

Yes. This may or may not achieve what you want to achieve, and may have side effects.

So are you deleting the base queue or not?

And what has the fact this is an alias got to do with anything?

Here's my tip:

AppWatch has limited WMQ administrative functions. For really interesting stuff (especially on z/OS) it's normally out of it's league. It does a good job given that it's monitoring software not administrative software.

Likewise the ISPF panels are fine, but can be cumbersome with more advanced z/OS tasks.

Stick with CSQUTIL. Easier to use, clearer to diagnose.

More specifically, use the IBM-supplied ISPF panels, and capture those images to post here.

You haven't provided much useful information, so I have to take a guess at why you can't alter the object definition.

A shared-queue can be part of a cluster. A real local instance of the shared-queue does not need to exist on all z/OS qmgrs to be part of the qsg.

So, I'm speculating that the real local queue definition for the shared-queue is NOT known to the qmgr where you are issuing the alter/delete command.

You may successfully display a clustered image of the object, but not alter/delete it if it's not local to the qmgr where you are issuing commands.

When you fill in the ISPF panel Connect Name:, are you specifying the qsg name or qmgr name.

When i am filling the ISPF panel i am giving the QMGR name in connect name.

Try connecting to the qsg. Do the attribute fields now allow you to alter the CLUSTER attribute?

So, connecting to the qsg worked? Yes? Did you do something else?

When you post from now on, please be specific as to exactly what you did, and what the results were. I/we don't want to guess.

Now try connecting to the qmgr, as you did previously.

Can you still display the queue attributes? What is current queue depth?

Can you alter queue attributes?
