Of course.
Using either to issue commands isn't going to go so well, but why would the connection fail?

Then I suspect your MO71 configuration is incorrect, or it's connecting but you're not seeing what you normally would if the Command Server was running, or because it can't do what it needs to do it is immediately disconnecting.
