In both the old, and in the new (beta) MQ Security Redbook, the Platforms chapter makes no mention of the Solaris platform. Anybody know why and does anybody have any info to share in this area? Specifically we'll be needing to use SSL between Solaris and AS/400 boxes. |

What version of MQSeries are you planning on implementing this security with?
And are you looking for only channel security, or do you want messages on the queues to be encrypted, and what about encryption versus authentication? _________________ Brandon Duncan

5.3 on Solaris, but I think 5.2 on the AS/400. At this point we're only looking at channel security. Originally the plan was to communicate between the mainframe and the AS/400 and testing of SSL was proceeding (although not very successfully). Now that the plan is for Sun to AS/400 communcation, we need to get SSL protected channels in place. |

Well, if you were running 5.3 on both platforms, it would be pretty easy since channel encryption is integrated into it. However, since you have 5.2 on the AS/400, you'll need to write your own channel exit (or get the one from the repository on this site) or purchase a third party product which will do it for you.
Or think about using a 5.3 only environment _________________ Brandon Duncan
