Hi,

I am trying to help a MQ group in another department troubleshoot their problem. At this point, I do not have a lot to go on, but I have done some research on trying to figure out their problem with the info they have given me so far. I am looking for additional ideas on how to advise them to troubleshoot, beyond suggesting that they create a PMR.

Briefly, here is what I know of their problem:
a) MQ V6.x
b) Re-creating queue managers on a Windows 2003 server that were originally working on UNIX
c) Original UID used on UNIX was mqm, on Windows 2003 it is QM1 (I work on UNIX, but I recall from previous posts that a Windows UID cannot match the group name, thus you cannot have mqm uid belonging to mqm group)
d) There is an existing queue manager on the Windows box that is running
e) MS03 output available
f) Info: “The switch vendor indicated that our queue managers were not acking (acknowledging) the message when it was received which was why they stayed hung on the switch.”

These are basic, but my ideas to help them troubleshoot are:
(1) What do the MQ logs show?
(2) Authority issue - Any reason codes 2035?
(3) Run “refresh security”
(4) Channels and listener up?

Are there any other ideas that you can recommend they look into, especially relative to changing from UNIX to Windows?

What specific feedback from MQ can be expected with item (f)?

Thanks for your help.

None. The question conveys no meaning.

Moderator: Please move my question to the "General WebSphere MQ Support", minus the first reply.

Thanks

Huh?

Are they perhaps expecting a COA or COD report to be generated by the receiving Queue Manager?

Or does this mean they are expecting the app connected to the receiving QM to generate a reply message?

Get this questioned clarified first. In the meantime see what the MQ Error Logs say on both ends, see if there is anything in the dead letter queue, and if Authority Events are turned, see if there are any Event Messages. Although on a Windows QM anything that would create an Authority event will also go to the MQ Error log and the Event Viewer (one of the few nice things about MQ on Windows).

I'll agree with "Huh"?

Are they trying to use some kind of load balancing network hardware? If so, what, why and I think I've found your problem....
