Yes. Just like it says here:

Quote:

WebSphere Message Broker Version 7.0 can coexist with previous versions as follows:
- The broker component can coexist with runtime components at Version 6.0, and Version 6.1.
- The WebSphere Message Broker Toolkit can coexist with the toolkit at Version 6.0, and Version 6.1.

Beth, my friend Vitor is correct, it *can* be. But highly *not recommended*. Find an old laptop to keep v6 on. Start fresh with v7 (or v8 shortly) on your desktop computer.

Where does it say that? Post the link.

I've got it working just fine with both on the same machine, and if you do experience difficulties it's a supported configuration.

And in sites other than yours, "old laptops" you find laying around may not meet or exceed by much the minimum requirements.

There is no issue about having two versions of the toolkits on the same system. They are installed in different directory trees.
THe only limitation I see is the amount of RAM consumed. Your system may not have enough to run more than one copy of a toolkit at the same time.

The biggest problem about co-existence of V6.1 & V7.0 is the runtime expecially on Windows.

On Unix/Linux is is easy to have accounts setup to use the different version of the runtime. The different mqsiprofiles are configured in .bashrc(linux).
We use this to handle multiple brokers wih differently configured ODBCINI files.

On windows remembering which runtime you are referring to at the command line level is more problematic.

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions.
