There are many tools to do this. You failed to mention what platform you are running on? Is it NT or what?

One of my favourites is mo71 by Paul Clarke, you can find it here, and it works against any queue manager, if you have client a connection (uses direct connection if the queue manager is local). The mo71 is developed for Windows.

You can find it here :
http://www-3.ibm.com/software/ts/mqseries/txppacs/mo71.html

I hope you'll enjoy it

Just my $0.02

Brandon,

It's on Windows 2000. I've got the q's clustered over 2 Windows Servers. I hasve to use Terminal Services to access the servers and as TS is not compatible with MQ, I can't view the q's via MQ Explorer. This is why I need an alternative method

Thanks

Mitch

Mitch,

Isn't it a shame that MQSeries Explorer doesn't work with Terminal Server? I don't understand why that is. Does anyone?
Webadmin doesn't have functionality to look at queue content. Also, Webadmin is no longer supported in 5.3 (another shame).
There are numerous queue-browsers that you can use via an MQ-client connection. Main problem there is security... . You must figure out for yourself if using an MQClient is acceptable to you. Sometimes a tool like Candle's MQSecure must be added on top in order to make it acceptable.
A general MQ monitoring tool (Candle, BMC, contact admin, QPasa,...) will allow you to browse a queue as well, but this might be too heavy a solution for the problem you are facing.
Frankly, I'd like to know if there is a light-weight cross-platform non-MQclient based secure remote queue browser (what a mouthfull).

Answer - Yes there is.

Our QN-AppWatch product provides the ability to access queue managers on any platform via a standard browser. We provide a single server installation on either UNIX or Windows and we require NO clients or agents to be installed on either the servers running MQ or on Administrators or Developers desktops. We further provide detailed security based on project and lifecycle views and associate people to those projects based on their "role." We provide 5 levels of user from the basic read only all the way up to full admin privileges. This allows for a secure "sandbox" around the MQ environment and users have project views that are platform independent.

Furthermore QN-AppWatch is very reasonably priced and is a fraction of the cost of client based monitoring solution. For more information you can post a question in our forum, visit our website at www.reconda.com or send an email to info@reconda.com.

Reconda,

Thanks for the info.
How do you get from the server to the queue manager? Since you don't have an agent at the queue manager machine, I imagine it is via an MQClient connection, no?

Yes, we do require MQ client to be present. When I first read your post I thought you were referring to a client based software agent. QN-AppWatch still does provide a cross-platform, secure, light weight and robust management solution for MQ.
