Hello, I hope I can obtain some help here. I am a Solaris UNIX administrator, not a MQ user/admin. Our customer has WMQ v5.2 running on an E3500 on Solaris 8. We are doing a project proof of concept to copy the application (vbroker, Oracle 8.17 databases) and MQ to a Sun V490, currently at Solaris 10 u8. The customer needs to stay with WMQ 5.2.
I copied all the application file systems into ZFS FS in the global zone and created a Solaris 10 zone for the app tests. Vbroker and Oracle started fine, but MQ doesn’t. I re-installed MQ in the zone, the install worked fine. I created a project according to the 6.0 manual for the /etc/system file entries required for Solaris 8. I converted the /etc/inetd.conf MQ entry using inetadm into a service also. As user mqm, I can create or delete a QueueManager. When we try to start QueueManager, this way
strmqm gsdux441.queue.manager
AMQ5615: Default objects cannot be created: CompCode = 2 Reason = 2059.
Now using
strmqm -c gsdux441.queue.manager,
we get a core file in /var/mqm.
I don’t think WMQ v5.2 is supported on Solaris 10, but does that mean it won’t run at all? |

Why? There's absolutely no good reason for this.

WMQv5.2 isn't supported on any platform any more. WMQ v5.3 isn't supported on any platform any more. WMQv6.0 is very nearly not supported.
Given how much has changed between the 2 levels of Solaris, and how far behind the curve WMQv5.2 was for Solaris 8, I personally would doubt that it would work and even if it did work, I don't see how you could ever trust it.
And of course if you hit any problems of any nature, you'd be entirely on your own. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
