Hello.
At my workplace, we have -
In Test environment (AIX)- MQ V6.0.2.5 and MB V6.1.0.9 installed;
In Production env (AIX)- MQ V6.0.2.5 and MB V6.1.0.5 installed.
And I connect to the 6.0 MQ Queue Managers on the AIX remote machines via MQ Explorer V7.0. However, I tried installing the MB Plug-in Version 7 (Support Pac- IS02 MBExplorer Plugin for MQExplorer). But it did not support in administering/connecting to the Version 6.1 Brokers installed on the remote AIX servers. So I uninstalled the plug-in.
I added the Broker Plug-in Version 6.1 (Support Pac- IS02 v3_wmqv6) to the existing MQ Explorer V7.0 that I have on my desktop. I followed the PDF document on how to get the set-up done for this Support Pac just to see if it will work with MQ Explorer V7. I did not receive any error, but then, it didn't work because in the Window > Preferences > WebSphere MQ Explorer > Enable Plug-ins window, the Plug-in for 'Broker Admin Explorer' did not show up.
I need to know if there is a way to use MQ Explorer with the Broker Plug-in for the current version of MQ/MB that I have at my workplace.
Is MQ Explorer Version 6.0 still available as a stand-alone so that I can rather install that and add the Broker 6.1 plug-in (Support Pac- IS02 v3_wmqv6) which is available for download?
I do understand that there are other monitoring tools. However, I am addressing my question specific to the MQ Explorer with the Broker plug-in feature, as I just need to understand what is available in this regard.
Thanks a lot. |

Thank you for pointing that out. I realized that I missed reading the version is02v4_wmqv7 in the link and hence ended up downloading the wrong one.
I now see the 'Broker Resources' in the MQ Explorer Navigator. However, I was unable to figure out how I can connect to the 6.1 Brokers that are on the remote AIX machines. I thought this would be possible. I do not have any brokers on my local Windows machine.
Can you help me here? Moreover, I am getting the error shown below when I try something like 'Create a Default Configuration', etc.
Plug-in com.ibm.etools.wmadmin.eou was unable to load class com.ibm.etools.wmadmin.eou.wizards.defaultcfgwiz.DefaultCfgWiz.
An error occurred while automatically activating bundle com.ibm.etools.wmadmin.eou (641).
Thanks and Regards. |

You would connect, at any 6.1 level, to the relevant config mgr.
You should be able to right click on the Brokers folder (or Broker Resources, perhaps it's called at that level) and then "Connect to a remote domain" or "Connect to a remote broker".
Then you'll enter in the necessary connection information for the ConfigMgr's queue manager. |

I sure agree with you as that's how one also connects via the broker toolkit. But no such options pop up on a right-click on the 'Broker Resources'. The only option I get is Broker Resources > New > Server Project. But when I try this to see what happens, nothing really happens and there is no next step showing up.
Would you suppose that the broker plug-in might not work because I already have the broker toolkit 6.1 installed on my desktop? I cannot really think of any other reason. And searching on the error message (which I had mentioned earlier) doesn't yield any results either.
Anyway, thanks for your responses. If I happen to find something, I will post the update.
Regards. |

You should be working with an item that appears under the MQ Navigator tree, not in a separate perspective.
So, again, there should maybe be a new item that is a sibling to the Queue Managers folder under the "IBM WebSphere MQ" folder in the MQExplorer - Navigator pane. This item should be called 'Brokers' or very similar.
Right-click on this. |

Hi.
I agree and that is exactly what I see too at my end. Under the MQExplorer - Navigator panel > IBM WebSphere MQ > there is the 'Broker Resources' folder.
Right-click on this did not do anything other than what I mentioned earlier which is-
Broker Resources > New > Server Project.
Now I tried disabling the wrong plug-in by going to-
Menu bar > Help > Software Updates > Manage Configuration;
On the left-hand side panel, I disabled the feature wrongly installed (is02v3_wmqv6)-
com.ibm.etools.wmadmin.broker.feature 6.0.3.1
This threw a warning that I accepted and restarted the MQ Explorer. As per the warning, the entire MQ view was disabled up on restart.
Now I returned to 'Manage Configuration' and also disabled the plug-in is02v4_wmqv7, and restarted following the similar warning. Now I was able to view only the MQ Explorer features with the configured Queue Manager connections (supposedly restored to the simple version).
But now when I tried to re-enable the is02v4_wmqv7 through 'Manage Configuration', below is the error I got-
Requested operation cannot be performed because it would invalidate the current configuration. See details for more information.
WebSphere Message Broker Explorer Feature (6.1.0.2) requires plug-in "com.ibm.mq.internal.pcf.event".
Please suggest a solution so that I can get the MB Explorer Plug-in to work. |

It sounds like things aren't working correctly.
IS02 is a Category 3 supportPac. So you can open a PMR to get more assistance.
I don't currently have an install of MQ Explorer v7 that I can test against - my current copy already has the v7 MB plugins installed in it.
But there should be a separate folder from Broker Resources. Broker Resources should be for BAR Files, not Brokers themselves. You don't see anything called 'Brokers'?
Again, I'd suggest opening a PMR for further assistance. |
