Hi,
I've recently had an issues with the max channels/max active channels property reseting for a queue manger within a windows hardware cluster.
I have an active/active windows cluster (2 machines each running Windows Server 2003 R2 EE SP2) with an instance of IBM MQ fix pack 6.0.2.5 running on each node.
Has anyone had a similar issue or advice for troubleshooting why this happened?
Thanks

What exactly do you mean by reseting? Reseting to what? From what? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Set those parameters while the QM is online, and then offline / online the QM to pick up the values.
Any values you set while the QM is offline in MSCS will be overwritten when the QM comes back online to the settings that the QM had the last time it was online.
And plan an upgrade to 6.0.2.10 or MQ 7. The version you are at (6.0.2.5) is quite old, although it has nothing to do with your problem. _________________ Peter Potkay

Thank you,
I note that because I have two instances of MQ active, the queue manager in question has both an online and offline instance.
When I set the max channels property I made the change to the online instance only.
It sounds like the property was reset when the windows cluster failed over.
I have set the property on both instances of the queue manager.

You only have one instance of the QM. Which node owns it and allows it to run is determined by the MSCS software.
If you change a parameter of the QM while it is online and running on Node 1, the change will persist and be present when the QM comes online over on Node 2, or any other node in MSCS clusters with more than 2 nodes. The MSCS and MQ software takes care of these changes across nodes - if you change it while the QM is running normally on one of the nodes and your MSCS cluster is properly set up. _________________ Peter Potkay
