I need to demo a poc using visual tools. Something in the line that would allow me to simulate messages rate of arrival, consumption rate, queue build up. Are there any tools that allow me to do such sort of a simulation?
FREE is always good. |

What? You didn't get a reply - on a holiday, in 90 minutes - and you are disappointed? We're all volunteers here.
You can download a demo copy of WMQ software. It comes with sample programs that, with a bit of tweaking, you can use to do a POC.

On Good Friday?
Anyway, simulate what? Something that's a pretty picture of a queue manager running? A test harness to pump messages through?
The only visual tool I know that comes close is LoadRunner & that's not free.
Perhaps if you explained a bit more what you're trying to do here? What concept are you trying to prove?

Yes similar to that. I used a tool called Arena sometime back. But I do not have license for that any more. Does n't WebSphere Business Modeler provide the same capabilities.
My requirements:
Should be able to generate three types of messags at random, one large, medium and small. Should be able to route to different queues designated for each message. Do some volumatric anlyisis with wait times etc. If this can be graphically depicted then it is even better. |

That's not a proof of concept, that's a load test.
LoadRunner. Or modify one of the samples to your needs.

Well, I preferred free but if Modeler can offer the capabilities we could look into purchasing it.

That's not a proof of concept, that's a load test.
LoadRunner. Or modify one of the samples to your needs. |

I remember seeing a demo of MQ Everywhere / EveryPlace / EverySpace / MySpace / Facebook or whatever it's called when it first came out. It was cool. A little graphic of messages flowing from a QMGR to a handheld thingy. Then I realised it was a bit like the Windoze progress bar. Bollox really. The best demo, especially when you do it for the first time is DIS Q(<QNAME>) CURDEPTH. Still brings a lump to my throat when the result is 1.
