Does there exist an XSD for these event messages that is publicly available?

Yes, it comes with the product - I think it might live in the sample for monitoring...

However, it would be nice if the docs were to point to its location though....

The InfoCenter is kindly enabled with a handy "Feedback" button for just such situations.

And if you're monitoring WMB with a WMB flow, you can build a message set for the event message using New->Message Definition File From -> IBM Supplied Message

Of course if you're using a different product you need the xsd. I'm just pointing out an alternative for the benefit of future readers.
