What do you mean by "working with File Transfer edition"?

If you have it in front of you, you don't need us to answer this question.

If you don't have it in front of you, then how are you "working" with it?

What does that mean?

Does that mean you DO have a copy?

Or that you DO NOT have a copy?

If you DO NOT have a copy, then why do you need the answer to this question NOW?

It would help us a bunch to help you if you used more explicit (clear) terms in your posts. 'Working with' as an example.

Does that mean you have successfully installed the product? Or than you are only planning to install the product? Or that you are having problems installing the product? Or that the product is installed, but you are having problems testing the product?

From your OP, I'm guessing that you want to know if you can install both products on the same o/s. Is this true? If so, the installation documentation will be pretty specific about uninstalling an incompatible product before you install the new one.

MQ and MQ FTE are separately installed products. If you purchase MQ FTE, you will also need to purchase MQ if you don't already have it. Consult your IBM sales rep !

That does not seem to be what the announcement letter says, from:

On distributed platforms, WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition includes a copy of WebSphere MQ, the license of which is limited for use on the same machine as the product. It entitles the client to use its full WebSphere MQ messaging functionality.

Thanks for the clarification, Phil. What if there is already a licensed copy of MQ installed on the server(s) ? Does that reduce the license cost of the FTE bundle ?

A question for your IBM sales person, surely?
