We have a scenario where the incoming XML transactions will need to associate all workitems within a paricular organization. Each organization wil have from 1 to N users defined to it. The customer is expecting close to 1500 organizations.
I have tried to specify the field from my defined data container in the Organization - From Container field. I entered DataStruc.ORG and this failed at verify as indicated the DataStruc.ORG field is not found. I have verified it is defined within my data structure. If it use _ACTIVITY_INFO.Organization the verify works. Have not yet tested with real data, so I am wondering if this is the correct solution.
In terms of an Organization vs Role debate, the client is looking to minimize the number of definitions necessary in order to accomplish specific functionalty. Will multiple users with an organization provide the same end result as is the system was implemented with a single organization, with 1500 roles, and the subsequent users within each role?
Reading the manual and Virtual user concept I believe it will work, but I have not done this exact scenario before.
thanx in advance.

DJ:
I just tried using the Organization from container, and got no error during translation. If you are certain that the member exists (remember case counts) then you may have found a bug. What version of MQWF are you running?
The _ACTIVITY_INFO.Organization should do the same as the Organization From Container, provided that all other _ACTIVITY_INFO members that relate to staffing are not used.
The danger of Organization vs Role is mainly that a user can belong to only 1 organization, yet can have many roles. It is my experience that organization generally does not fit, because you will have some user who needs to see workitems from multiple organizations. _________________ John McDonald

John,
Thanx for the help. I just tried to use just the ORG element and it did verify. Is it safe to 'assume' that my DataStructure is understood because I have it previously defined to the process model? As compared to having to explicitly define it as _ACTIVITY_INFO.Organization.
To continue the Organization vs. Role discussion, I suspect we will need to implement a "Super User" (not ADMIN) who has access to all of the individual ORG worklists, not just a single one. The second notification may be required if the manager of the org/role does not act once notified. |

Yes, if your data structure had not been set on the "Data" tab that would have caused the error you sited earlier. In my opinion it is a toss-up as to whether or not to use "From" container or "From pre-defined". In your case since you are not going to use any of the other pre-defined staffing items they are identical.

This is not an issue, it would be a problem if you needed to have some users who required to see multiple organizations (but not ALL organizations).
