No. But when it comes to WMB7 ODBC database extender is considered as I can see in info center.
Please let me know if ODBC direct connectivity is possible for WMB v7.0.0.0  |

What part of this from the documentation is unclear

ODBC connections are supported to a number of databases without the ODBC Database Extender. These are DB2, Oracle, Sybase and SQLServer (from memory.) The ODBC Database Extender extends this range of databases to include solidDB as well. Which database manager are you trying to connect to? |

The OP didn't give any indication as to which DB he wanted to conned to (if any).
He/she just wanted to know if installing the ODBC Extender was mandatory to end up with a valid Broker install.
