Exactly what the documentation says happens when you use a RESOLVE CHANNEL with one of those options.

If you are going to quote documentation, please quote the official documentation, not something that hasn't been updated since about 2002! _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

And you should have looked more closely before posting. Especially posting something that's not on the IBM site.

You are right by saying this, but if you go through the content of the link provided by me, it has the required information which was needed by poster. |

Agreed. However, the URL you offered is not an official IBM site. As such, it should not be used as a legitimate, professional reference.
While it is possible that useful information could be found, I would also not cite the Wikipedia website as a professional reference. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Are you saying only official IBM sites can be treated as legitimate and professional? What about mqseries.net _________________ Never let the facts get in the way of a good theory. |

Perhaps in this instance, but that mirror (if you look carefully) is 10 years out of date and refers to MQv5.2. Posting that link and claiming it's a legitimate source of information could mislead other posters into using it.
As an example: I'm a new user on WMQv7 and I want to know what is the maximum number of log files a queue manager can use. What answer will I get using your link, and what answer will I get using the WMQv7 infocenter from IBM? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

I don't see the problem with that link as it being not official IBM except that if you rely on the product doing anything you see described elsewhere you can't rely on that.
My problem is that it's a 10 year old mirror of the MQv5.2 documentation & doesn't accurately reflect what later versions do in all cases. Clearly much of it is the same, but using it as a legitimate source is dangerous. The biggest problem is that the Information Technology Services department of the State of North Carolina are better at the Google Dance than they are at updating things, so that wretched site tends to come top of a search.
One reason that there's a link to the IBM InfoCenter at the top of this page; so we can refer people to it. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

The best reference will be the vendor/author of the software - in this case IBM. The next best reference would be quoting the best reference.
A questionable reference would be one like the mirror at NCState, which is out-of-date and unreliable. I contacted them a year or so ago, and asked them if all of their websites were 10 years out-of-date. They were not amused. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
