I'm not certain why MQ has to be the guinea pig on this (it does not appear that they IBM has done this for other things.... yet), but I for one wish to express my protest.
It is not practical for IBM to assume that everyone that needs the documentation can download and install Infocenter on their desktop. Not all companies permit this type of access and privileges. Some have limited internet access, but downloading is restricted or blocked entirely. Some firms block access to sites that are outside of a certain geographic region (i.e., outside of the U.S.).
While the Infocenter product has its uses, I don't believe it should totally replace the manuals - for Websphere MQ or other products. _________________ IBM Certified MQSeries Specialist

This topic has already been discussed to the point of destruction here.
The only real conclusion that came out of that thread is that whatever conclusion we come to here, it's unlikely to change anything. If you want to protest, it's your right as a paying customer to protest to IBM. I urge you, and those who agree with you, to do so.
Recent world events have reaffirmed that when enough people get together to complain, things change. But organising a protest to demand the return of PDFs here is like having a protest march in the school hall; not visible enough. IBM have given you a gate to beat on; make your voice heard!
As a minimum, you can make your IBM account rep squirm uncomfortably while he tries to justify the decision. Even if they come up with really good reasons, you can usually make them squirm with a little effort. Not a replacement for PDF documentation by any means, but quite fun. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

IMHO, the FAQ presumes incorrectly that there is value in a .pdf version of an inferior Information Center product. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

That's useful, I sometimes like to send a developer a PDF and ask them to RTM. |

From that page:
"In some cases PDFs can be created by the user."
... In some cases ...
... can be created by the user ...
IMHO, it would be better for IBM to provide these as PDFs for download. That used to happen, I'm not sure why they want it to stop.
Did anyone ever ask their IBM rep and get an answer to this? |

Be careful - if you look at the dates of those, they are not current. Those were the last PDF versions produced, haven't been updated since publication and there have been significant changes since then. _________________ -- T.Rob
