Hi everyone,

Recently we have upgraded Message broker from V7 to V7.0.0.1 and now we are facing the issue with log4j nodes. we use log4j nodes very often in our flows . After we have migrated to v7.0.0.1 the flows doesn't show up the log4j nodes there is a compatibility issue with log4j with the newer version. i don't know any one else has faced this issue but i am in a state of limbo to resolve this issue as the log4j nodes were used extensively for the logging mechanism.

Any sugggestions???

Is this the log4j support pac or just the standard log4j java classes?

What version of log4j is this? I don't have an answer but I am also interested in this (although personally I dislike use of logging).

i am sorry for the late reply becoz i was on a vacation and i found this issue before i have gone for the vacation

@zpat:

i am talking abt the latest version of the log4j support pack and it doesn't work with the WMBv7.0.0.1

@mqjeff:

i have not contacted them yet but need too. thanx for the response

meanwhile only suggestion to the fellow folks if you like log4j node and want to use it then stick to v7(which means u may loss all the good features you have in v7.0.0.1)

Note: but log4j using esql works (refer support pack manual iam3.pdf)

Have you contacted the support pac's author or not?

They can't fix it if they don't know about it.

Hi everyone,
I'm the author of IAM3 and I want to tell you the following:
I am investigating the problem and I'm pretty sure that there will be a solution out soon.

If you encounter problems after upgrading the Message Broker Toolkit to a new version ( e.g. 7.0.0 -> 7.0.0.1 ):

1) Look into $TOOLKIT_INSTALL_DIR\configuration\org.eclipse.update.
2) Save a version of the file platform.xml.
3) Edit the file platform.xml as follows:
Replace the line:
<site enabled="true" policy="USER-EXCLUDE" updateable="true" list="Log4jLoggingPlugin/" url="platform:/base/">
with:
<site enabled="true" policy="USER-EXCLUDE" updateable="true" url="platform:/base/">
4) Restart the toolkit with the -clean option.

This workaround is also published on the IAM3 main page now.

This is a prime reason not to use the SupportPac but to call Log4J directly. You don't need the SupportPac to make use of the Log4J libraries and the SupportPac just gets in the way, as you have discovered.

@manimku

yes lancelotlinc is correct from my experience i would recommend you to use log4j directly instead of going to support pac thats my personal choice thou becoz i had to touch base the code to resolve the issue.

with regards,

You use it just like any other Java function call. Rather than use "Log4J nodes" you use a Java Compute Node in its place. Inside the Java Compute Node, you call out to Log4J logger just like any other Java program.

Good luck and best wishes to you.
Lance
