Hello all. First post, new to WebSphere - there, you have all the ammunition you need now
I have an issue with the above version of the Broker Toolkit running on XP SP2 (32 bit) and Windows 7 (64 bit). My problem is that I cannot get the Toolkit to connect to any of my Configuration Managers. I simply get a 2059 and 2009 (in the same pop-up) each time I attempt to connect.
Now first off, I realise Windows 7 is not on the list of supported OS' for this version of the toolkit. However, my disclaimer is that is successfully running on the PC of the guy sitting next to me. So, it is possible to have it functioning on this OS.
In relation to the config. managers I am trying to connect to - all the name and port info is correct because a) the config files used are being used by others without issue and b) I can telnet to each server using the same details. This rules out human error or firewall interference.
I am going around in circles trying to figure this one out.
Anyone have any pearls of wisdom? Is there a solution? Could I just install the v7 toolkit - is it compatible with old QM's / Brokers?
Much appreciated,
Tom. |

I don't think you have ruled out windows 7 firewall rules, because they could be different for Toolkit than your command prompt. |

Well that's true - in one respect.
Our FW rules are AD controlled and thus my colleague with the working Toolkit on Win7 has the same rules yet a working Toolkit.
Also, and this is where I may look like a REAL newbie, MQMon is able to connect to each of the servers/ports in question without a problem. Do they not use the same connectivity info?
Thanks for your reply,
Tom. |

AFAIK it isn't, because WMBv7 has removed the concept of a Configuration Manager.
I'll stand correction from anyone who knows better. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Again, if you are experiencing network issues from one application and not from another on the same machine, then it is likely an issue with firewall or virus control rules - such that Windows7 is not allowing the Toolkit to access the network. |

Well, you're right about the fact, but wrong about the reason.
Broker v7 Toolkit can't connect to v6.1 Brokers (nor can a v7 enabled version of MBExplorer) not because of the lack of a ConfigMgr, but because the v7 version of the CMP API classes is not capable of talking to a ConfigMgr and you can't use two different versions of the CMP API in the same application. |

To generalise the advice: use V6.x tools for V6.x brokers; use V7 tools for V7 brokers. |

Yes, this is a valid assumption and I am working on tracking down the right person with the ability and access to disable the FW for a test.
Thanks again

Makes perfect sense.
Thanks
