Hi,
I want to install only Websphere Message Broker Toolkit V6.1 on my desktop. I do not have MQ, WMB runtime. I just want only toolkit. When I am installing the toolkit, I am facing the following issue:
Quote: |
java.io.IOException: Failed to rename file
Error during "install" phase:
Error backing up files from C:\Program Files\IBM\Installation Manager\eclipse\eclipse\native\com.ibm.cic.agent.launcher.rename_1.0.0.20080418.zip
Failed to rename file 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IBM\Installation Manager\adapters\native\IBM Installation Manager\com.ibm.sdp.eclipse.ide\com.ibm.cic.agent.launcher.rename.iu_1.0.0.20080423\0_' to 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IBM\Installation Manager\adapters\native\IBM Installation Manager\com.ibm.sdp.eclipse.ide\com.ibm.cic.agent.launcher.rename.iu_1.0.0.20080423\0'.

I am not able to understand the reason for the installation failure...I have done some research in insternet but of no use....
Please advise me if anyone of you got the same issue or is it something to do with my system settings like firwall, antivirus etc (my guess may be completely wrong.
Thanks

Which version of Toolkit are you trying to install? And which version of Installation Manager are you using?
If I'm reading the error correctly, it's the 1.0.0 version of IM. You should be on at least 1.0.4 for later versions of Toolkit.
I'd also ensure that the user id you're using has all the permissions you think it has. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Try 1.3.x...
If you are persistent, you can download the latest version of the IM from the IBM web site. They don;t make it easy to find but it is there.
Install that first and then try the toolkit install. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

I installed the installation manager V1.3, however, I am nt able to undertsnad the procedure to install the toolkit using the IM. When I start the installation manager, it shows me an option "Install". When I double click it, it aks me to setup the repository. As per the info provided by the installation manager, the repository it is expecting is some remote location, however, my software is on my desktop in zip form. How can I isntall the locally located WMB toolkit software using the lastest downloeaded Installation Manager? I have tried adding the locally located WMB toolkit software to the repository and it says "Failed to connect reposioty "C\WMBToolkit.....(location of the toolkit software on my desktop)".. Please advise me the procedure to install the toolkit using this lateset Installation manager I downleded...
Thanks

File->Preferences
Add a repo. This is where you have the kit you want to install.
--x--> Disk1 (or something line that)
Then you can use the 'Install' option.
Be careful with the options or the installer will install the updates at the same time by downloading them.
If you have a fixpack then add that to the repo list as well.
Be patient. Be prepased to un-install it and try again. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Thanks a lot for all your responses. I could install the toolkit after installing the I'M 1.3. I did not try to add the disks to the repo. I just tried using the mqsilauncpad and by default the installation manager 1.3 (which I installed) started the installation and installed the toolkit without any issues. Once again thanks for for all your inputs.
Thanks
