Hi,

When we use the mqsi commands in v7 and connect to remote brokers, it seems not possible to configure the SRVCONN channel that this connection uses.

Apparently, the "SYSTEM.BROKER.CONFIG" channel is used by default.

Is this correct or can we configure the channel to use?

Thanks in advance !

Best Regards,
Kurt.

Jeff, these are all the CMP-based commands.

KVBuser, you can specify the SVRCONN channel if you use the -n flag on these commands instead of -i -p -q. To get one of these .broker files, export one from your Message Broker Explorer's broker connection.

Yes, I agree that all of the CMP-based commands do use these, and the right solution to the question as posed IF the question is about the CMP-based commands is "use -n and a .broker file".

However, it is entirely possible that KVBuser meant OTHER mqsi commands, thus the request for clarification.

I was indeed referring to the CMP-based commands and so my question is answered since it seems possible to override the default channel via the -n flag and a ".broker" file.

Related to this question, I also noticed the same behaviour when using the "Test Console" or when using the "CMP API Exerciser". In both cases, also the default channel "SYSTEM.BRK.CONFIG" is used. Is it possible to override these settings?

Thanks !

Best Regards,
Kurt.

Sure. In the CMP API Exerciser, select "View -> Everything" before connecting to the remote broker.
On the Test Client's Configuration tab, click 'Change...' to select the Deployment Location, click "Connect to Remote Broker...", enter the host/port/qmgr. If you then click 'Next' you'll see a page where you can change the SVRCONN channel name. I'm not sure, but I think you need the Toolkit to be on at least 7.0.0.1 in order to do this.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of this ! This indeed works for both, the Test Console and the CMP API Exerciser.

So, to conclude, it seems that I can remove the default "SYSTEM.BKR.CONFIG" channel, and replace it with a custom defined one, without any problem?

Thanks !

Sure, that's fine.
