I've got an MQ installation where DOMAIN\account1 is running DCOM and most all the other MQ processes. Account1 is a member of DOMAIN\domain mqm. However, DOMAIN\domain mqm is not configured as required in order to be a valid domain group containing a special ID. I checked the local user rights and account1 does have everything required (i.e. logon as batch job, login as service, act as part of the OS, .... ....etc). If this installation (which occurred 7 years ago) was done as a domain installation I do not see how this could be working (the MQ works fine on this server). Therefore I assume that the installation was done as a local install (with MUSR_MQADMIN running DCOM) and later the admin dcomcnfg to account1. I had thought that a local account would be required in order to dcomcnfg. Can you confirm that I am wrong about this? Alternatively, is there a way to determine (after-the-fact) how the question (domain controller in the mix?) was answered by the admin when this MQ was installed?

ivanachukapawn,

the MQ services are in general using another user ID than configured with DCOMCNFG. So MQ may run fine, although the DCOM user is invalid. MQ should run as "local system" or something like this.

The DCOM user is needed by the MQ explorer. If you start the local MQ explorer (on the server) you should not be able, to view or modify any MQ object.

You still could use RUNMQSC in a CMD shell - or remote administration (e. g. on your PC) via MQ explorer.

Hope this helps.
