I wanted to use a PHPComputeNode within WMBT 7.0.0.1 but I searching for an editor to edit the PHP files I create. I can configure the PHPComputeNode to use an existing PHP file, but the PHP file will be opened within the normal text editor which does not contain any syntax highlighting nor any other coding-helpings. I did not find any information in the InfoCenter chapters, too.
I tried to install the JDT from eclipse site (as described on http://wiki.eclipse.org/PDT/Installation#From_Update_Site_2) but it fails to install with the following error codes...

I'd suggest you try the install again...
I just ran it and didn't have issues. |

Thanks for the quick reply! As I had the problem at the end of WM602DE training I will have to wait to get a version 7 toolkit at work in order to try a second install.
Which IDE does IBM prefer to code PHP within the WMBT? Is PDT the preferred solution?

You'll need to pay some attention to Eclipse versions. If you're trying to use it in WMBT 6.1, for example, you need to install the PHP plugin that's compatible with Eclipse 3.2.2, not the 3.4 that runs WMBT v7.

Discussions over which editor to use often descend into religious arguments, so for the time being I'll just sit on my fence. 
This said, for Broker, PDT is clearly a natural fit (taking your points about version compatibility, Jeff). At some point we'd like to get the PDT in the Toolkit without the need to separately install or use another Eclipse instance, but we're not there yet. Get a requirement logged if it's something you'd like to see. |

Thanks for the information! I tried to install the PDT into my WMBT 6.1.0.8 and it fails, too.

I have a fresh install of the MB Toolkit 7.0.0.2 on RHEL Linux and am following instructions in this redbook sg247826 - when I came to the point when I create a new PHP file - there is no such option in the Toolkit. It just has no such menu. I looked at Eclipse "capabilities" and there is no place to enable PHP. I can add PHPCompute node to the flow, but when I click generate PHP file it opens external editor for me - not the Eclipse built-in editor.
Is this expected behavior?
How do I enable PHP editing within Eclipse with New->Other-PHP menu working?
(I am not interested to just edit PHP as a text file within Eclipse as I assume there is more to it than just text editing). |
