Hi,

We currently got WMQ 6.0.2.7 and WMB 6.1 deployed in Prod along with MQTT client extending ia92 support pac.

We are now looking to upgrade to WMQ 7.0.1.3 and WMB 7. I am trying to figure out if MQTT client apps would be impacted by this upgrade. The WMQTelemetry manual says "If your client applications are already using v3 of the MQTT protocol, no modifications to the applications are required." I am wondering if ia92 implements MQTT v3? It doesn't look like ia92 documentation states oneway or other although WMB 6.1 documentation confirms its support for MQTT v3.

Appreciate your feedback.

What have you tried? What errors if any did you encounter?

I was hoping for feedback from someone who may have attempted such a task. If not my next step would be to try it out myself.

My other worry is if we uncover an issue in Production following the upgrade I need IBM documentation that would backup our actions.

I'd suggest a PMR for clarification. If nothing else, they'll know better where the right docs are.

If you are testing with ia92 then yes, you are already using MQTT v3. The WebSphere MQ Telemetry listener is compatible with the MQTT clients in the ia92 SupportPac.

So you would now have a topology that looks like:

client app -> WebSphere MQ Telemetry channel -> WebSphere MQ -> Message Broker MQInput or JMSInput node

whereas before you had:

client app -> Message Broker SCADAInput node
