hi,

We have a FR cluster with two QM and different AIX boxes Mq 7.0.1
we have a PR QM3 on aix 6.0.1 connected to the FR cluster using host name.

Now the PR QM3 server is upgraded and it is moved to a new server with same host name put different IP.

Can I do perform steps the below to move the queue manager from the current server to the new server

1) endmqm QM3

2) Now tar up the queue manager directories
/var/mqm/log
/var/mqm/qmgrs

3) Copy the 2 tar files to the new server and untar:
cd /var/mqm/log
cd /var/mqm/qmgrs

4) check the host name is the same name as of the old server

5) Now start the queue manager Qm3 on the new server

I just want to know how the FR identify this QM any known issues with the above?

Any comments are welcome

Regards

So have you checked it out in your lab?
Did it work right?

Have fun

PRs have explicitly defined clussdr channels to the FR, and a clusrcvr to itself - as explained in the WMQ Clusters manual.

Did you read the WMQ Clusters manual. I believe it describes steps needed to remove a qmgr from a cluster.

Hi,

the issue was fixed after coping the directories as mentioned.
The clusrter receiver got the ip of the old server. so altered the clusrcvr receiver channel with the dns entry
started the channel it worked

thanks
