Hi,

Could anybody please help me in finding the exact value of the kernal parameter for MQ version 5.3 with CSD 14 with two queue managers in single machine(HP-UX B.11.11).

My doubt is that we are aware of the kernal parameters value from the quick beginners guide. Is this value corresponds to one queue manager or do we need to double the kernal value if we have two queue manager in single machine ?

And triple it for three queue managers, quadruple for four and so on?

Have a look at THIS, and also get off that version of WMQ...

Yes, it states:

The WebSphere MQ "Quick Beginnings Guide" for each platform gives tuning recommendations which should satisfy a busy queue manager or even a few queue managers with moderate activity. It is difficult to quantify how many IPC resources a queue manager will use since the answer depends on the number of connected applications, the number of queues, message size, queue depth, the number of channels in use, the number of clients accessing the queue manager, the number and size of clusters to which the queue manager belongs, user application design, and even timing.

When you are planning to run a very busy queue manager, to run multiple queue managers, or to run a database or other products on the same system, you may need to increase the IPC kernel parameters beyond the values in the "Quick Beginnings Guide". The parameters are marked with a symbol in the tables below to guide you when considering multiple recommendations:

Many years ago, I saw up to 10 qmgrs run on HP-UX MQ 5.3 with the basic kernel settiongs. YMMV.
