I am installing MQ client (7.0.1.3) on Windows. In Aix or Linux, I can use MQCLIENT.ini file to point where the client channel table file is and what its name along with ssl keystore.

But in widnows, it seems we still need to use these variables. is that true? is there any other way around? I wondered when I checked, there is no registry entry for MQ client installation at all so no chance to create entry in Reg.

Any insight?

Thanks

If the variables are set they will over-ride the mqclient.ini file. From experience of at least one dotNet client, the first place the mqclient.ini file is searched for is the root directory of the invoking application, e.g. C:\Applications\MyApp\, then it looks for the 'default' location of installation path/WebSphere MQ. Exceedingly handy that as it means application-specific .ini files can be dropped into the containing folder for each client, and/or a generic .ini file can be used too.

Thanks Exerk. Actually, my question was whether we can create a mqclient.ini file in windwos as we can not have a qm.ini so I was not sure whether we can have mqclient.ini. But I found the answer, and it is Yes.
