Hey everyone,
One of my clients asked me to find him a MQMD field, that could be set/get using JMS, and that will automatically stick with reply message. My first answer was that I don't know of such abilities (I mean it could be done using code on the receiving end, but not automatically). However I decided to pick your brains. Anyone have a clue? |

Have him first define if he means the JMSReplyTo Destination, the message id / correlation id, or if he means some kind of a payload. If he looks for the latter tell him he needs to stay off his hard recreational drugs... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

Thanks for your response,
As far as I understand, he wants to use one of the fields as payload. Yes, I know, only use those fields for MQMD uses, not application specific usage. However, he is the customer and this is his request. So basically I need a MQMD field, stable and gettable by both MQ-Native and JMS, textual, that is not used and not overridden by MQ.
Any thoughts? |

The MQMD has only very limited space and only a very limited set of fields.
None of which are likely general purpose enough for what you want.
MQ V7 Message Properties, which are not kept in the MQMD but are kept with and as part of the message and are accessible from both JMS and the plain MQ API, however, are general purpose. |

Great, thanks...
Any field that is not overridden (Although destined for a certain purpose)?
Thanks,
Eli. |

Overridden by MQ, for example "PUTAPP" (putting application name) etc, after the MQPUT has been issued. |

I'm sure the documentation is clear on those. |

I'm sure it does, but I wish to avoid reading the entire MQMD documenation and excpected to rely on this forum's experts. |
