Hello MQ Experts ,

Environment : Solaris 5.8 , Weblogic Application server 8.1 connecting to MQ 7.01.3 in client mode on Linux machine .

We have client server environment , where nr of MQ client connects to MQ 7 qmgr server . One of our clients are running on Solaris 5.8 . Client wants to use new MQ 7 features ( like MQ client auto reconnect ), however MQ 7 can't be installed on Sol 5.8 . I tried importing MQ 7.0.1.3 client jars without installing MQ7 package . In this way ,I was able to make use MQ 7 client features in my appserver. Now , I want to understand , if IBM will be able to support this kind of envrionment .In case of raising PMR/ESR , if IBM ask generate client trace , we may not be able to do so . Does strmqtrc ( Mq client trace ) makes sense for java based application

Thanks in advance .

This is a question best asked of IBM as they'll be able to give you a definitive answer, although bearing in mind that that the platform doesn't support WMQ V7.0 you may easily guess the answer, but I'm willing to be pleasantly surprised.

It would have been a better idea to have done so before doing what you did as your management might not understand why you had it working, and now maybe have to back it out. As regards just importing jars, as opposed to a full installation (notwithstanding the platform support issue) I've always considered that to be somewhat 'dangerous' and difficult in relation to maintenance etc.

Thanks exerk . There seems to different tracing mechanism provided by IBM for java based apps .
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg21174924#Javat . None of ours testing environments ( using MQ 7 client jars without MQ7 installation) had problems with this kind of approach . That gives us confidence to move prod .. but need to have word with IBM. Just wondering , if any one in this forum adopted this kind of approach.

I didn't say it wouldn't work, I said (AFAIK) that it is not supported, which is something you should bear in mind if you are intending to move this into Prod...
