Hi,
We are using MQ V7.0.1.0 on AIX P series with multi CPU
as the setmqcap command is not valid anymore I understand that we have to buy license base on the cores.
when purchasing license for MQ it is for production systems only or for dev & test sytems also?

It's about how many copies you're running not what part of your environment you're using them for. Otherwise you could save a fortune by running all your business as a really big UAT....
But as always only your IBM rep can discuss licensing costs and restrictions for your site. The final litmus test of your license compliance is if IBM is happy with it. If they don't require sepearate licenses for your non-production environment (because your site spends $$$$m on production z/OS, CICS, DB2, etc licenses) then that's cool for you. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Oracle only licenses for production and DR and not for Dev, Test, UAT
saneben: actually license is based on PVUs and not only cores. Search google for IBM Distributed PVU licensing.

I'm enriched by this information but struggle to see the relevance to a discussion on WMQ (or IBM) licensing... _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Maybe you didn't read the whole post, I answered saneben's question to the extent that I can on a public forum...
The Oracle free UAT was for you to ponder if all Oracle customers are running big UATs and actually saving big fortunes

No, noticed that & agree that only the IBM sales rep could give a better answer.

Maybe not before, but I see a big uptake on this method on those sites that use Oracle & WMQ..... _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
