Surely that's what REAL-PROD is for? _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

I'm of the opinion that there should be no testing or development whatsoever in PROD. I believe that application testing and development should take place in TEST only.
If end-user testing (validation, really) in QA fails, then the app and security issues should resolved in TEST; then percolated to QA again; then to PROD.
Yes, I recognize that in rare instances an emergency fix might be allowable in PROD; but this should be the rare exception. The emergency fix should be re-certified in TEST, QA, and then be percolated to PROD.
Saying that things are (or need to be) different from QA to PROD doesn't explain why this is necessary or even a good thing.
Perhaps I'm expecting utopia. But I just can't bring myself to tell the boss or auditors that we routinely test in production. Perhaps this is my mainframe upbringing... _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
