I have installed WICS V4.3,Adapter framework 2.6.0....Right now am want to implement a scenario where in source is JText and target is JDBC...source has a txt file tht needs to be updated at the oracle end database.
Could you please let me know wht is the process followed to setup the jtext connector ? how can i start the JTEXT CONNECTOR ? do i need to use the test connector to setup JTEXT CONNECTOR? do i need to include any jar files in the classpath ???? please share ur thoughts/links
Regards,

Please don't double post. It's considered rude.
This is a bad thing when you're reliant on peoples's good humour for your answers.

Then why not just pick one as requested here?

What would be really nice is if you followed the advice in the link I posted about using the search facility. You'll find a lot of useful discussion on the Jtext adapter, including the information that it's unsupported and obsolete. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

I regret I have no specific knowledge to offer you. WICS had been superceeded by WPS by the time I got into that end of software, and I never really got involved in that either.
You'll have more luck with WMQ & WMB questions. I'm good with those (except the Java parts). _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Yeah i totally agree with u...regarding the WICS product ..but unfortunatley it the client who is big boss..so i do have a specific question for u...how feasible is or how appropriate is IF WE MIGRATE THE WICS to Websphere Message Broker or Websphere Process server ? which is the best solution between these two products ???
Cheers,

Reading a file and updating a database is about a 4 hour job to implement in Broker, presuming you actually have to create a logical model of the data AND assuming you have a record format document that you can import (a copybook or schema or etc).
The single most time consuming part of this task, in Broker, will actually be modeling the input message (the records in the file). Depending on the competence level with the product, that could take two hours or it could take a week.
If the records in the file are CSV records, you can avoid a lot of this time by importing and using the appropriate sample. You will not have a message set that will have the logical structure of your document, but you will have a message set that will let you handle the fields in each record by position if not by name.
If the file is an XML document, then you don't even need to model it unless you need to validate it. |

Like I said, wrong person to ask.

I've seen it done both ways. IMHO it's one of those questions where there is no "best" solution; only a "best for your situation" solution.
But there has been previous discussion in here on this topic you may find valuable. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
