Hi All,

I am trying to see how I can recover an object in the case of a damage. This testing I am doing on winXP in MQ5.3. Here is what I did.
I created a queue, put a message in it. Then deleted the queue file while the qmanager was running. As expected QueueManager did not say anything until I tried to do some operation on this queue.
Then I used the rcrmqobj to recfover the queue.
My question is how do I get the message that was on the queue before it was deleted?? Is there a command I can use to inform queueManager to check the logs and get the play the message on to the queue?? I tried stopping and starting the QueueManager.. It did not work??
Any Ideas??

I may be misunderstanding here..

You deleted the 'q' file then you tried to interact with the queue & got an "object_damaged" type message - e.g. MQRC 2101.

Next you ran rcrmqobj -m <qmgr> -t queue <queue name>.

The queue was recovered - but the message was not?

This is very odd behaviour!

Are you using linear logging?
Has a media image been recorded previously?
Did the rcrmqimg complete successfully?
Are you using persistent messages?

I have no problems doing this (lucky me!)

There is no "something else" that can be done.

If I were you I'd double check everything (especially the fact that you put a persistent message on the queue - for instance browse the queue prior to deleteing the 'q' file).... The MQMD.Persistence field must be "1".
