I'm trying to install the runtime on a CentOS VM to test some ANT build & deployment scripts.
The system did have a bad install of 6.1.0.4 on it.
This was done by someone who just installed the fixpack. Naturally, a whole load of stuff is missing.
I removed the rpm's and all the files plus directories but the installer still says this
Code:
Errors occurred during the installation.
- Unable to install IBM WebSphere Message Broker 6.1 over IBM WebSphere Message
Broker: Installed product has newer version.
Press 2 for Previous, 3 to Cancel or 4 to Redisplay [2]
has anyone seen this before? Or, it is time to scrap the VM and start again? _________________ WMQ User since 1999

The problem has been solved in the following way.
- reinstall the fixpack
- remove the fixpack using the uninstall script (the person who did the original install deleted the _uninst* & bin directories)
- Install the base kit
- apply the fixpack again. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

I have recently been assigned to install MB on unix servers and I had same issue on one of the servers.
I followed your suggestions and it worked like a charm...
thank you.

Thanks for the feedback. It is always nice to know that someone has benefitted from your experiences.
(Especially today as I have 2 tonnes of topsoil to shift and the weather forecast is not that great. steady rain spreading from the S.W. by late morning.) _________________ WMQ User since 1999
