Define "hot":
Most used?
Most recommended by Gartner or similar?
Most available jobs?
Highest consultancy rates? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Gaya3 - In my question itself, I quoted
Quote: |
in the likes of MQ, Broker, ESB, WPS, DataPower.. |
Do you think, Websphere Lombardi comes in that list
Vitor's question seems genuine but your reply doesn't make any sense to me
Vitor - I meant, most used, 'break through' and upcoming technologies, Of all the list of websphere technologies, I can invariably say WAS, MQ, Broker, ESB, WPS, DataPower have left a mark in software industry, I was curious to know, If you guys know any such technology that seems to be as promising as above |

Gaya3 added that in the list that I gave , I believe !
and its more into providing a unified business process management (BPM) environment for collaborative process improvement.

What are the latest websphere technologies AND what are the list of websphere technologies that are hot
Gaya3 has already answered as all are good in the market....
It depends on you too want you want to learn !

You literally mean the Technology Or infact Infrastructure Technology Or a Middleware Technology which is Upcoming and Going to affect the Pre-established Systems in a Positive way to minimize the loss(of data/info), increase the efficiency, minimize the cost ??? _________________ *Life will beat you down, you need to decide to fight back or leave it. |

That's another way of phrasing my question.

For example neither a break through technology nor an upcoming technology will be the most used by their nature. Likewise those 3 categories will be used by different sectors of the industry and by different classes of companies.
Hence my question to try and narrow down your sphere of reference _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

That's the way.. of how to bend an arrow towards your phrased questions !

Hi guys,
Guys please, only post if you are adding value...all said and done this is a tech forum. And all other readers lose interest in the topic if it keeps going off the subject.
shashivarungupta:All the products you listed for WebSphere don't actually belong in the WebSphere Brand pillar in IBM. For example, WebSphere Portal and all its forms, content mgmt etc actually belong in the Lotus brand. I think the DataStage is also the IM brand DataStage, not sure.
messg_wb:Trying to answer your questions...
messg_wb wrote: |

Yes, definitely. IBM acquired Lombardi in an attempt to complete its BPM portfolio which according to Gartner will be a 4 billion (by memory) market by 2014. IBM has the integration BPM in Process Server, the content based BPM in FileNet (IM Brand) and now the human centric BPM in Lombardi. Lombardi has been in the Gartner leader quadrant for years now (you can check the report on their site), and having tried it a bit myself, let me say that its a totally different way of approaching Process Management, and its comparatively great, if used properly

There are a few...CastIron for cloud integration, Sterling Commerce with multiple products, CoreMetrics for Web Analytics, Lombardi for BPM, MQ FTE (not very new) for MFT, ILOG again for multiple products like BRMS.

Hmm...each one of the products I mentioned above is a market leader in its own field, so I will not stand justified if I try to choose amongst them.
If its for your career and learning purposes, read some analyst reports on future market, but I'd also encourage you to keep your eye on the 'Cloud' direction that IBM seems to be taking.
Regards. |

If you are not sure, don't post ! Or at least do some research and post your findings....
Surprisingly enough, WebSphere Portal is actually in IBM's WebSphere portfolio, not Lotus. See http://www.ibm.com/software/websphere/portal/
You guessed correctly, DataStage is in the Information Management portfolio, see http://www.ibm.com/software/data/infosphere/datastage/ _________________ Glenn |

There are many IBM product offerings that extend functionality as it relates to WMQ application design and architecture. It is possible that you/your organization will have no need for some - CICS and IMS, if you are not a mainframe shop, as examples.
This explains why your initial question was difficult to answer. You specifically mentioned WebSphere - an IBM umbrella for things that interact with e-commerce. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

gbaddeley, may I know what your job role is ?
Since you like links so much, I'd pasted a few, but then I thought maybe I'll just let you do some more "research and finding" before posting my response. Perhaps your research should include asking the IBM Sales Rep...
