Hi All,

My question may sound a bit weird and very high level but need some info.

I'm not a MQ admin but was asked by our sr manager's to provide some info regarding setting up a new MQ environment for some proposal.
And the requirement is to provide a high level estimations for cost and time required for setting up a new MQ environment which can act as a bridge between two different application and processes the data between them.

So, if we want to setup a MQ environment, what all we required and what are estimates for that?
like,
setting up a MQ server(Solaris), creating the necessary MQ components, creating the messageflows,ESQL and BAR files, deploying them..etc..

Please let me know if you can provide me with some info on this or pls guide me to knoe where can I find this..

Thanks in advance..

Regards,
Regonda

That's not a WMQ environment. That's a WMQ environment and a WMB environment.

The product documentation will talk about technical requirements. As to how long it takes to do an install it's dependant on skill level; you mention you're not an admin. You'll need to get help from other areas (sys admins & DBAs as a minimum) and that will take time.

As to developing ESQL that's a whole imponderable starting with the skill of your ESQL developers, moving through the complexity of the applications & their interaction and then heading off......

From the sound of it the WMQ environment will be the least of it as Broker is involved.

There is no short-cut answers to this because without specific knowledge of environment and requirements, answers such as "...10 minutes to install WMQ, but hours/days/weeks to configure..." are about all you're going to get - plus the Broker aspect too of course.
