We have installed MQ7.0.1.0 on AIX 6. When we do dspmqver we get the output. But when we do dspmq we get error related to log file missing. When we checked we found that the path /var/mqm does not have any file/folders present under it. Not sure how it got deleted but to get MQ 7 work so that we can go ahead and create the qmgr , Is the Reinstall the only solution or is there any other work around. We are planning to have MQ reinstalled.

Thanks

Was the crtmqm (create qmgr) successful? Did you look at the output?

The dspmq and crtmqm output is

$>dspmq
2 - 'A file or directory in the path name does not exi' from /var/mqm/mqs.ini
AMQ6090: WebSphere MQ was unable to display an error message FFFFFFFF.
AMQffff.

$>crtmqm test
AMQ8101: WebSphere MQ error (893) has occurred.

I can only see one folder "lost+found" present in the path /var/mqm and no other files/folder.

So, the crtmqm failed. Therefore, you should not expect to see good output from dspmq.

Did you research the 893 error here and on Google? Lots of possible reasons for this.

We have installed MQ7.0.1.0 on AIX 6.

Is this the first queue manager you are creating on this configuration?

This is fatal. You might be able to get something working by manually creating an mqs.ini file but in the time it would take you do do that, then fix the next problem, then the next, then the next, etc, etc you could have reinstalled twice over.

This time make sure you have sufficient security to stop vital files and folders being deleted.

bruce2359 : Yes thats right we are creating the first queue manager. I am trying to get hold if this error and try to resolve it.

Vitor. Yes security is big question here. We thought of copying the /var/mqm folder from some where else or create the folders/files manually by comparing with one of the existing file structure, but we are also thinking of having mq 7 re-install. I think re-install is a better option.
