Hi all,

we have a problem with PutTime for all the messages coming from the mainframe. Indeed, PutTime is in 2 hours advance immediately local.

DATE on Z/OS:
LOCAL RESPONSE=0151 IEE136I: TIME=11.11.22 DATE=2010.201 UTC:
RESPONSE=TIME=11.11.22 DATE=2010.201

DATE on receiving Windows of the messages: GMT+1 is Paris time
C:\Documents and Settings\admMEO >time
The current time is: 11:16: 20.14

When we browse messages with the MQSeries explorer, PutTime of the last message of today is at 13:00: 45 (either 2 hours in advance) whereas when we make a browse with sample IBM amqsbcg, PutTime of the same message is 11004511.

We have the same problem with statwatch on AIX.
We modified TimeZone but that caused to advance or move back every hour (PutTime and CrossTime). The delta between the 2 hours is always the same one.

Thank you for your help.

The PutTime field in the message should always be UTC (GMT) and this seems to accord with what amqsbcg is showing (all that does is pull out the fields & display them). It sounds like the MQ Explorer is honoring some kind of Windows time zone setting / region setting.

But since any application which uses the message will interogate the MQMD as amqsbcg does it shouldn't be a problem. If it's irritating, you could try one of the other admin tools in preference to Explorer.

The PutDate / PutTime fields in the MQMD are always in UTC (GMT), as per the system clock of the host where the queue manager is running.

These fields are part of the Origin Context, so if the putting application has enough MQ authority, it can override the values populated by MQ.

Note that the system clock may be inaccurate, or even set to the local time rather than GMT !
