Hi ya!

Are there any more recent publications like this one to use as a reference architecture?

ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/dw/wes/hipods/JPMC_report_26Oct.pdf

We are on AIX 6.1 / WMB 7 / WTX 8.3.0.2 build 32 and trying to extrapolate what hardware will be needed for production. I floated this document as a representative sample configuration and management declined using it as a reference because it is too old and not recent versions of Broker.

Is there another document like this using WMB version 7?

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

I advocated using this document as a reference architecture and ordering 8-way systems configured similarly. The rebuttal was a valid one in that the software used was seven years old. Need same document but with updated information for later version. I would think even WMB version 6.1 would not work as the significant change in the product from WMB 6 to WMB 7. Also some document that contains references to SolidDB in the reference configuration would be most helpful.

TIA.

Given that official solidDB support only came out last week, you're unlikely to find any official publications for a bit.

In general the first place to start in performance planning is with the Performance Report supportPacs. These are updated at the major product versions - there's one for v7 I'm sure. There is likely one in the works for 7.0.0.1, but again it may not be released for a bit.

The next place to start with Broker itself is to use the Samples that come with the product, and deploy them to a piece of reference hardware. Then you can run them and compare the results against the *exact same configurations* (on different hardware) in the Performance Reports - as the Samples are run as part of the performance testing that goes into the sPacs.

But pay some attention to the configurations reported in the sPacs, as they tend to do things like run broker as a trusted application against MQ that may not be anything you actually want to do yourself. (I'm not advocating for or against it- just mentioning that you need to pay attention to that level of detail). It will help understand where the differences between your own reporting and the sPac numbers comes in.
