Why is this topic ignored in the MQ Pub Sub guide? Or am I missing it?
I did find it in the MQ Using Java manual, in the JMS section. But it seems to me something like durable versus non durable should at least be mentioned in the Pub Sub guide, right? _________________ Peter Potkay

Which version?
...
?
I don't think v6 "Fuji" pub/sub broker actually supported non-durable subscriptions, and the JMS provider worked around this by doing what it could to remove subscription at disconnect. |

Interesting. Thanks for the v7 link to the info I needed. I was looking in the MQ 6 version of the Pub Sub guide becaus e this particular QM is at MQ 6.0.2.9.
But the MQ 6 version of the Using Java guide does get into durable versus non durable. Maybe for non-MQ Pub Sub scenarios for v6 clients? _________________ Peter Potkay

Again, the v6 pub/sub situation is entirely different. This is one area where it is very likely that what is true in v7 is NOT true in v6 or vice versa.
It may be that the pub/sub engine itself is not aware of the difference between a durable and a non-durable subscription. So they talk about it in the context of Java, where it is a concept that exists, but not in the pub/sub manual where it doesn't.
At least, this is what I recall, and it's backed up by this.
"When a subscriber has registered with a broker, the subscription is persistent and survives broker and queue manager restarts, regardless of the persistence of the Register Subscriber command message." |
