Hi All,

Would like to know if it is possible to change message sets name(delete the old message set and create new one) without impacting the mapping for the same.

we have already developed our mapping in the mapping node and now we have a requirement where we have to change Message set name to standardize it, but it seems that if we rename the message set(which means deleting and creating the message set again) would we lose all our mapping?

Is there any way to restore that mapping, we have thousands of fields mapped and doing it again all from the very beginning would be tedious and will take lot of time.

Let me know any suggestions?

Regards,

Doubt it. Once you delete your message set the mappings are gone.

This would be useful. I think there's a supportpac that converts mappings to ESQL but don't think there's anything to do the reverse.

Personally I've found the mapping nodes to be quite unpredictable (although V6 was a lot better than V5 and maybe V7 is even better). E.g. sometimes changes to message sets would leave valid mappings still in place, other times all the mappings would disappear. Consequently I much prefer to use ESQL to do anything other than very simple mapping.

There is an unsupported way to do that.
You would have to look at the xml of the mapping and check the top and bottom more specifically. Look at it before.
Once you have changed create a new mapping (relax just map one or 2 elements), look at the xml and infer what you need to change in the original mapping xml. Once done you can delete the new mapping ...

Have fun

I have actually done this, in my case the message definitions were same and it was Toolkit V7.0.

Create new Message set, then in the mapping node add the new source or target message, now delete the old message(source or target) by right click remove. All the old mapping is copied automatically to the new message.

I doubt this is supported in v6.1 or 6.0.
