Did/does your organizations' capacity plan include server hardware upgrades to meet software requirements?

So, you/they went ahead with an upgrade without a plan, OR not following a plan to have the prerequisite hardware/software in place? And now you/they are surprised that something is misbehaving? Is this business-as-usual at your organization?

WMQ 7.0 :
Storage requirements for WebSphere MQ server
You require up to 600 MB to fully install WebSphere MQ for Windows.

Processor requirements for WebSphere MQ Explorer
If you want to use the WebSphere MQ Explorer, you need a minimum of:
•512 MB RAM
•1 GHz processor
•300 MB for Eclipse platform code and data
•A suitable monitor for the operating system with a screen size of at least 1024x768

WMQ 6.0:

•The following disk space (for a typical installation):
◦360 megabytes (MB) for product code and data (not including the Information Center)
◦20 MB minimum working space
◦30 MB of temporary space for the installation process

Hardware requirements of WebSphere MQ Explorer
If you want to use the WebSphere MQ Explorer, you will need a minimum of:
•512 MB RAM
•1 GHz processor
•1.5 GB for WebSphere Eclipse Platform code and data
•A suitable monitor for the operating system with a screen size of at least 1024x768

My system have 44GB of Disk space, 2x 2932 MHz, virtual memory 4.8GB and 3GB of RAM which is more than the prerequisite, and the same amount of data is handled by the same system configuration in wmq 6.0 where even more memory is required for eclipse platform code and data when compared to the one in wmq 7.0 which requires only 300MB(leaving 1.2GB free). I should still have lot of memory left isn't it. I am surprised..!

Why? Those figures are for running Explorer. It's got nothing to do with how much power a given queue manager needs to run.

I don't recall the footprint of a single qmgr. Anyone?

It's probably in one of the white papers someplace. But all I have is anecdotal evidence that the more you have on Windoze the more problems you have (even if you've bags of resource). You'd imagine it works much like Unix, in that the more the queue manager is doing the more cycles & memory it's taking. Though obviously the allocation of both will be done in a weird, non-linear, Windozish way.

And the standard Windoze sizing method of course - as much as you can fit in will only just be enough.

I seem to recall that a single qmgr image (after crtmqm) was 500MB-ish. Not sure where/when I heard that.

Finally its fixed, after a long wait.

Here are the details below if someone is interested:

IBM have provided a ifix APAR IZ70032, when the kpiMQGETM function has been modified to free the memory allocated for the message properties when the asynchronous MQGET function fails with MQRC_TRUNCATED_MSG_FAILED error
