Hi,
For reasons I may not agree with nor completely understand ..... A client site has there own QM and aplication server. They will need to pub into a centrally hosted cluster of QM's where the messages will be reviewed and republished to other Que's for other consumers. ( By client I mean a trusted partner on a dedicated private network - might think of this as being on an internal lan but just not centraly owned or managed ).
For the client's QM would this be configured as a Gateway ( this would afford them both local Que's and foreign Que publishing )? If so, is there a way to configure it so that it can properly interact with the cluster - ie. a Cluster QM goes down others pick up? any other thoughts welcome too.
Of the reading I've done it's not clear for covnersational understanding.
Curious .... With a JMS server you can construct it so the cluster shares a repository DB. If one node in the cluster dies another picks up with the dead node's que's so no messages being stuck in a dead server. Can this be done in MQ?
Thanks!!! |

The Gateway should be a member of the cluster, and therefore load balance messages across the cluster - normally this means point-to-point from your client's queue manager to YOUR gateway, and use of a cluster queue manager alias does the rest.
If one of your queue managers in the cluster goes down, any messages on queues in that queue manager will be unavailable until the queue manager is restarted. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

I don't know how far you have been through the term 'Gateway'. I am giving a link to one of the Topics where some discussion was being done by Vitor, meself and WEBDEV1 on term 'gateway' : (Please check the 2nd page of that)

Hope that would be helpful ! Thanks. _________________ *Life will beat you down, you need to decide to fight back or leave it. |
