Apparently England has failed to lose to America in a game that England invented.

Of course, they've also failed to win...

We're organising a lynch mob for our goalkeeper. Along with career guidance as he's probably not going to be playing top-flight football (or soccer as our American readers call it) for much longer..

At least we didn't lose on penalties this time.

Would you be wearing your * please do not use * pointed hat when you lead the mob?

No need to organize one. Just throw him back a little in time and feed him to the Lewisham riots.

I have heard a rumour that he's being scouted by the Moscow State Circus - apparently they need a top-flight juggler

No, I wear that to entirely different lynchings.

At least it's one British spillage the Americans won't be moaning about...

And anyway, the team are supporting him. Steven Gerrard, the England captain, said last night, "The whole team is behind Rob Green". Which, with hindsight, would have been a damn good place for them to be.

I'm going to guess that my colleagues who've attempted humor using references to * please do not use * pointed hats are not from the U.S. Some of us colonists find that to be a bit off-limits.

Not to make anyone mad or sad.... just one of those things that, for benefit of my own conscience, I felt I must mention. Thanks for allowing me to share my thoughts.

Naturally I meant ex-colonial, but when I'm fussing at people, I don't like to brag about how we won that war.
